IFEMINA: a founding evening for women's health in Corsica

More than 50 players united around a common ambition: to improve women's healthcare pathways

On Thursday 28 May 2026, Hôpital Privé Sud Corse took a major step forward in its commitment to women's health with the organisation of the first evening dedicated to "Women and Health". IFEMINA - Women's Institute.

More than fifty participants turned out to share a moment of exchange, reflection and collective construction around current issues in women's health.

Representatives from the Agence Régionale de Santé de Corse, the CPAM de Corse-du-Sud, the Direction Régionale aux Droits des Femmes et à l'Égalité de la Préfecture de Corse, the Clinique de Valicelli, the Centre Ressource Intim'Agir Corse, the Centre Hospitalier d'Ajaccio, the Maison de Santé Pluriprofessionnelle de Cargèse, the CIAS du Pays Ajaccien, User Representatives, the OSTEO 2A association, as well as numerous healthcare professionals, associations and partners from the region.

Over and above the diversity of the players present, this evening above all enabled a common conviction to emerge: women's health today deserves a comprehensive, coordinated and resolutely humane approach.

Public health issues still too often ignored

While medical advances have considerably improved the care of women over the last few decades, many challenges remain.

Endometriosis, which affects almost one woman in ten, continues to be the subject of delays in diagnosis, sometimes of more than seven years.

Menopause-related disorders remain under-identified, even though they have a significant impact on women's quality of life and health.

Women's cancers, particularly breast and gynaecological cancers, are a reminder of the crucial importance of early detection and support throughout the treatment process.

In addition to these medical issues, there are psychological, social, nutritional and sometimes professional dimensions that require coordinated care from a wide range of players.

Modern medicine has shown that the most effective treatment pathways are those that combine medical expertise, psychological support, supportive care, adapted physical activity, nutrition and coordination of professionals.

IFEMINA: an innovative solution for women

IFEMINA was born out of this dynamic.

Conceived as a veritable Women's Institute, this project supported by Hôpital Privé Sud Corse aims to offer women comprehensive support at every stage of their lives.

Specialist consultations, coordinated care pathways, supportive care, psychological support, medical expertise and networking with local professionals are the foundations of this new approach.

The aim is simple: to enable every woman to benefit from a smoother, clearer and better-coordinated pathway.

Collective intelligence at the service of the region

Over the course of the evening, discussions led by the various speakers addressed the issues of early diagnosis, multidisciplinary teams, the importance of supportive care and cooperation between local players.

The testimonies of health professionals, associations and institutional partners highlighted the need to strengthen the links between the city, the hospital and the voluntary sector in order to develop responses that are increasingly tailored to women's needs.

This collective reflection also highlighted the wealth of skills available in Corsica and the shared desire to make progress in healthcare pathways.

A project that's only just begun

Above all, this evening marks the start of a new dynamic.

IFEMINA's ambition is to become a real resource for women, but also a place where professionals, institutions and associations involved in supporting them can work together.

Hôpital Privé Sud Corse warmly thanks all the speakers, partners and participants for their presence and commitment.

Together, we have demonstrated that innovation in healthcare is not based solely on medical or technological advances.

It is also based on our ability to work together, to share our expertise and to put people at the heart of every care pathway.
